USATuff specializes in helping customers create accurate templates using our Mylar Template Kit. With clear instructions, short tutorial videos, and hands-on support from our team, we guide you through each step to ensure your custom SeaDek boat decking kit is built to fit your boat correctly.
Before any SeaDek material is cut, we convert your Mylar tracings into digital templates and send paper fits for verification. This extra step ensures accuracy and protects your investment.

Our team provides dedicated, one-on-one support throughout every step of your Mylar project — from your initial questions to final installation. You’ll work directly with experienced team members who review your tracings, answer questions, and guide you through each stage so you can move forward with confidence, knowing help is always available.
When your project requires Mylar, it simply means we need to create a custom template for your boat. Here’s what to expect:
STEP 1: Project Photos & Measurements
Begin by sending clear photos of your boat and rough measurements of the areas you’d like covered with SeaDek®. STEP 2: Review & Quote
We review the photos and details you provide, confirm your boat’s make and model, and identify the areas you’d like covered with SeaDek boat decking. Once confirmed, we send you a custom quote and prepare your Mylar Template Kit.
STEP 3: Mylar Template Kit & Tracing
After your order is placed, we ship you a Mylar Template Kit that includes clear Mylar material and step-by-step instructions. You’ll lay the Mylar into your boat and trace the areas where you’d like SeaDek installed.
Once your tracing is complete:
This step ensures we capture your boat’s exact layout accurately.
STEP 4: Template Digitizing & Paper Fits
Once we receive your Mylar tracings, our team digitizes them into our CAD system. From there, we create full-size paper-fit templates for each piece in your project. We mail these paper fits to you so you can stage them in your boat and confirm accuracy before moving forward. Template digitization and paper fit setup is typically 5-7 business days, depending on the complexity of your project.
If adjustments are needed, we’ll guide you through revisions before proceeding. Two sets of paper fits are included with your order. You may add more paper fits for an additional fee if needed.
STEP 5: Design & Approval
After fit is confirmed, our design team applies your selected design details (such as teak lines or custom patterns or logos) and sends a digital proof for approval. Design turnaround is typically 3–5 business days, depending on project volume.
STEP 6: Fabrication & Shipping
Once you approve the design, your genuine SeaDek® pieces are precision-cut, quality-checked, and shipped directly to you for do-it-yourself installation. Fabrication typically takes 5–7 business days from final approval.
